Dr Vicky Bostock
Clinical Psychologist
DClinPsych
I have over 15 years of experience working as a psychologist in the UK and NZ both within the public health service and in private practice. I have worked across a variety of mental health settings providing psychological assessment and therapy as well as supervising, teaching, training and offering consultation. I have experience working with adults and older adults.
My aim is to help people to maximise their quality of life and wellbeing, working on the goals that are important to them. Sometimes it is hard to know exactly what we want to change, let alone figure out how to get there, but this can all be explored within therapy. Having a safe and trusting therapy relationship is key and I work with clients at a pace that is right for them. My aim is to assist people to better understand their difficulties, to work through past trauma should they wish to do so, to help them feel like they have greater choice and freedom in how they respond in the here and now, and to support people to learn new ways of coping.
I utilise a number of evidence-based therapeutic models, the choice of which is guided by best practice guidelines in conjunction with client preference. The therapy models I utilise most frequently are:
Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)
Schema Focussed Therapy (SFT)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
