Kiri Windross

Registered counsellor

MNZAC

I am a fully registered counsellor who works with individuals in-person and online.

I am warm and open, offering a confidential and safe space for you to explore what is happening in your life.  Our time together will give you a dedicated space to explore thoughts, feelings and life issues and work towards creating strategies to move forward.

I tailor my approach to your needs and also the number of sessions you can attend or can afford.  I acknowledge that everyone is different and openly discuss with you the style of counselling you would like.  I am able to draw on a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural therapy(CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy(ACT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy and Solution focused approaches.

I have experience working with clients from a wide range of age groups.  I have worked for a number of years with 15-25 year olds while a face to face counsellor at Youthline, and adults of all ages while in private practice.  I am very comfortable working with clients from all sectors of the Rainbow community and clients from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.

Common topics clients bring to counselling include anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, trauma, relationships, life transitions, grief, and navigating identity including sexual and gender identities.

I have a Masters of Counselling with the University of Auckland and have full membership with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors(MNZAC).  I also have a Graduate Diploma in Arts (psychology) which complements my counselling training.  I believe my life experiences around fertility, parenting, relationships, sexuality, depression and anxiety enables me to relate to many issues that clients bring to sessions.
