Dr Ella Barrett
Clinical Psychologist
BSc(Hons), PhD, PGDipClinPsy, MNZCCP
Being human means that we will inevitably face challenges that push our coping resources to the limit. When this occurs, every person is worthy of receiving support to strengthen, and expand on, their coping skills. Ella is a Registered Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about providing humanising therapeutic approaches to support people in living fulfilling lives. She believes therapy should be a collaborative process that accounts for the unique cultural and personal backgrounds of every individual.
Ella has experience in Correctional, Community, and Private settings working with adults living with a wide range of mental health difficulties. She has specific interests in trauma and perinatal mental health. She predominantly uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR in her work while incorporating aspects of other evidence based therapeutic approaches as appropriate (e.g., DBT skills, Schema therapy). She strives to compassionately tailor these therapies to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. Ella is a full member of the NZCCP and is a registered psychologist with ACC. She accepts clients seeking support in person or via telehealth as appropriate.
